Maurice Julian Mills

Maurice Julian "Bunch" Mills, 90, of Du Quoin, passed away at 9:25 A.M., Friday, January 23, 2004 at the Fair Acres Nursing Home in Du Quoin.
Bunch worked as an electrician at the River King Mine.  He was a member of Paradise Baptist Church where he was a church deacon and a Sunday School Teacher for many years.  He was a member of UMW of A, Ducks Unlimited, Water Fowl USA, NRA, and Perry County Senior Citizens.
He was born March 1, 1913 at Du Quoin, IL, the son of Alfred J. and Flora (Davis) Mills.
He married Cassie Irene "Rennie" Queen on May 7, 1931 at Du Quoin and she preceded him in death on December 19, 1995.  He then married Effie Henry on October 5, 1996 at Du Quoin and she survives.
He is survived by his wife of Du Quoin, one daughter - Harriet Gostowski and husband Edward of Washington, IL, one son - Marvin W. "Bud" Mills and wife Jo Ann of Du Quoin, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, one sister and one half brother - Lavern Davis.
Funeral services were at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Shaw DeMent and Rev. Bob Dickerson officiating.
Friends called from 5 to 8 P.M., Monday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment was in Paradise Cemetery at Tamaroa.
